David Moyes hopes to welcome back Marouane Fellaini when Reading visit Goodison Park on Saturday.

But it could be a case of one in one out if keeper Tim Howard fails to shake off a knock picked up in the FA Cup tie against Oldham on Tuesday night.

Should the American fail to feature against the Berkshire side, he will miss out on breaking Neville Southall’s consecutive league appearances record by just three games.

The former Manchester United keeper has so far played in 210 successive Premier League matches for the Blues.

Speaking ahead of the clash with the Royals, Moyes said: “Marouane has a chance to be fit. But I have a doubt about Tim after he suffered a knock in midweek so I will assess that one.

Victor Anichebe has been carrying a knock as well so we are not quite sure how he is so I will have to make a decision about him.”

Moyes was, however, delighted to welcome back Seamus Coleman to his squad for the last two games and revealed his delight at no longer having to shuffle his defensive pack.

“We have missed him and Tony Hibbert when they haven’t been fit,” he added. “I think we went six weeks without a recognised right back. Because of that we had to juggle and change things about.”

Moyes did concede that fellow defender Hibbert will need ‘a bit of luck’ to feature again this season.

Hibbert, who last turned out for the Blues on 1 December at Manchester City in only his fifth appearance of an injury-hit campaign, continues to recover from a calf problem.

“I’m not sure if we will [see Tony this season],” admitted Moyes. “He might be back before the end with a bit of luck.”
