Distin's Praise For Ossie
Frenchman salutes midfielder on his goalscoring landmark.
Sylvain Distin has heaped the praise on Leon Osman after the midfielder reached yet another milestone on Tuesday evening.
The 2012/13 season has already witnessed the 31-year-old earn his first England cap and celebrate ten years’ service with the Everton first team.
And against Oldham, Osman headed his 50th goal for the Blues, three days after he had also registered on the scoresheet at Carrow Road.
A dependable source in Everton’s engine room, the academy graduate has featured in every Premier League match this season, amassing 32 appearances in all competitions.
For all of those above achievements, plus Osman’s influence in the dressing room, Distin has the utmost respect of a player he has called a teammate since the summer of 2009.
“He [Leon] is a great player and a funny guy as well,” the Frenchman told evertontv. “He is part of the reason why we have such a good atmosphere in the squad. He is always in a good mood and always working hard.
“He is a great guy and he really represents Everton – the Club is at this level because of guys like him. He is a very humble guy who is there for you if you need him. He is very important in the team.
“He is consistent – that’s what his strength is. Even on a bad day he is still doing his job, working hard no matter what.
“He is really good in the air for his size. That’s something that people don’t really talk about. He can jump and has scored some really good goals for us.
“You need a guy like that in your team.”
