Neville Returns At Old Trafford
Skipper makes his 300th Blues appearance against his former club.
Phil Neville will today make his 300th Everton appearance after being restored to the starting line-up for the Premier League fixture against his former club Manchester United.
The 36-year-old is back wearing the captain’s armband on his return to Old Trafford, replacing John Heitinga, who drops down to bench.
Neville, who was an unused substitute in last Saturday’s 3-3 draw with Aston Villa, is the only change to the first 11 made by manager David Moyes.
There is, however, a place on the bench for January recruit John Stones. The right-back is included in a matchday squad for the first time since joining from Barnsley on transfer deadline day.
Manchester United’s forward line will be spearheaded by Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie, while Ryan Giggs, Antonio Valencia and Tom Cleverley have also been included in Sir Alex Ferguson’s team.
Everton: Howard, Neville, Baines, Jagielka, Distin, Osman, Fellaini, Pienaar, Anichebe, Mirallas, Gibson (Subs: Mucha, Heitinga, Jelavic, Oviedo, Naismith, Hitzlsperger, Stones)
Manchester United: De Gea, Rafael, Evra, Vidic, Evans, Jones, Cleverley, Valencia, Giggs, Rooney, Van Persie (Subs: Anderson, Smalling, Hernandez, Carrick, Nani, Welbeck, Amos)
