Everton To Tackle Oldham
Blues will travel to Boundary Park in the FA Cup fifth round.
Everton will travel to Oldham Athletic's Boundary Park in the fifth round of the FA Cup.
The League One outfit booked their place in the last 16 with a shock 3-2 win over Liverpool on Sunday.
The tie was drawn by Everton's 1984 FA Cup winning skipper Kevin Ratcliffe and Nigel Jemson, the former Shrewsbury striker who famously scored twice to upset the Toffees in the third round in 2003.
The Blues secured their safe passage through to round five with a last-ditch 2-1 win at Championship Bolton on Saturday and will head to Greater Manchester knowing victory will put them just one game away from a second successive Wembley semi-final.
The contest will also give David Moyes' men the opportunity to seek revenge over the Latics, who knocked them out of the FA Cup the last time the two sides met in January 2008.
Prior to that, Everton and Oldham had met four times in the competition, winning two ties each. However, you have to go back to a 2-0 third round victory at Boundary Park in 1912 to find the Toffees’ last cup success over their north west rivals, a side currently occupying 16th place in the third tier table.
Prior to defeating Liverpool, Oldham knocked out non-league Kidderminster Harriers, League One rivals Doncaster Rovers and two-times winners Nottingham Forest.
The game will take place on the weekend of 16 and 17 February. Ticket information will be announced on evertonfc.com in due course.
