Moyes Targets Top Four

Boss remains confident despite second successive stalemate.

Moyes Targets Top Four

David Moyes believes Everton remain capable of clinching Champions League qualification despite seeing them held to a second successive goalless draw.

The Blues boss admitted he was forced to have stern words with his players during half-time of Monday's stalemate at Southampton following a limp opening 45 minutes in which the visitors were clearly second best.

Moyes' frustration led to a vastly improved performance after the break and his players may even have snatched all three points had the usually predatory Nikica Jelavic not squandered a gilt-edged chance.

"We got better after we had a word at half-time," said Moyes. "The chance for Nikica Jelavic was a real big chance but we are a little bit like that at the moment.

"This time last year we were stealing the goals but it will come.

"We are in a good position and we have as much chance of anyone of getting that fourth spot."

Moyes was able to welcome back winger Kevin Mirallas after virtually two months on the sidelines.

And the Blues boss added: "Kevin Mirallas and [fellow substitute] Victor Anichebe made an impact for us and a draw here is not a bad result."

Paul SomervilleWe won't qualify for Europa Cup never mind CL. As Andrew says too many draws and DM persisting with Jelavic and not giving Anichebe a run. Question now looming is 'Can we finish above the reds?'

Andrew PatrickWe were awful today. Far too many draws will ruin our season. We won't qualify the CL if we keep dropping easy points.

Gordon BellWe can't afford to have so many draws against teams we should be beating. Sadly Jelavic is a shadow of his former self and Mirallas and Anichebe should be given an extended run now they are fit.
