Round Praises Job Well Done
Assistant boss pleased with professional approach of players.
Steve Round praised Everton’s professional approach after they comfortably negotiated their way past an FA Cup third round tie at Cheltenham Town on Monday.
The Blues faced a potentially tricky trip to the League Two outfit but overcame the hurdle thanks to goals from Nikica Jelavic, Leighton Baines, Leon Osman, Seamus Coleman and Marouane Fellaini.
The win teed up a fourth round trip to either Sunderland or Bolton and Round told evertontv: “We’ve got very good characters in the dressing room, very good professionals and whether they’re playing at Old Trafford, Wembley or here at Cheltenham, they go about their job correctly.
“They didn’t need any motivation from us. They knew what they had to do. All cup runs start with a game like this and we knew they would go out with the right attitude.
“It was a great win and a good professional performance. This is a difficult place to come against a side that does very well at home.”
Everton’s victory was helped by going two goals ahead inside the opening 21 minutes and Round added: “We knew we had to dig deep and see how the first 20 minutes unfolded.
“It wasn’t going to be too pretty in that time and fortunately we got the first goal. That killed their enthusiasm a little bit.
“With the second goal following so quickly, I feel from then on in we controlled the game and we were worthy winners in the end.”

alexis leungVic must have changed diets. He improved hugely this season, no longer a crying baby. Coleman's goal was terrific, fast and neat. If we can maintain this fitness, we will be going to Europe again.

Andrew PatrickGreat performance and some wonderful goals. It would have been so easy to fail to take it seriously and slip up. Instead we showed professonalism and respect - and got the result we needed.
