David Moyes has welcomed the decision by the FA to rescind Darron Gibson's red card at West Ham.

The Everton midfielder was dismissed in injury-time of the 2-1 victory at Upton Park. The Club appealed against the straight red-card decision and following a hearing on Thursday, the FA confirmed the dismissal will be stricken from the record and the Republic of International will not have to serve a suspension.

It was a ruling which pleased the manager, who was also happy to hear West Ham striker Carlton Cole, who was dismissed in the same game for a similar challenge on Leighton Baines, also had his red card rescinded.

He told evertonfc.com: "I think football people who would have seen both of the incidents would have said they were yellow cards. On the day it probably helped us because Carlton Cole was sent off earlier in the game.

"I don’t know how big an effect it would have had on the game and the result, but if I was Sam I would have been aggrieved at the sending off. We were aggrieved that Darron Gibson was sent off but I think the right thing has been done with both being rescinded."
