Blues To Appeal Gibson Red
Club officials confirm decision to contest midfielder's dismissal.
Everton officials have confirmed they will appeal Darron Gibson’s sending off at West Ham United on Saturday.
The Republic of Ireland international was dismissed for a challenge by referee Anthony Taylor late on in the game as the Blues won 2-1 at Upton Park.
It followed another incident earlier in the second half when the Hammers’ goalscorer Carlton Cole was red carded for a challenge on Leighton Baines.
The Blues will submit the paperwork on Christmas Eve and due to the FA protocol it does mean that Gibson will be able to participate in the Boxing Day clash with Wigan Athletic.
Everton’s case will be heard on Thursday 27 December and expect to hear the outcome of the appeal later this week.
