Tim Howard believes Everton's togetherness and camaraderie have been key to their impressive start to the campaign.
The Blues head into Saturday's game at Stoke with the chance to go third in the Premier League, having received many plaudits for their attacking display and style of football this term.
And while recognising the talent within the ranks at Goodison, US international Howard believes that there is a greater underlying factor to the current side's vibrancy.
He told evertontv: "We're just a tough, tireless bunch of guys who like to run around for each other and fight for the cause. We appreciate each other, we all like each other and we all get along.
"I say that not to be sweet and kind, I say that because there's a trust level and a respect level that goes along with that. We work hard for one another."
The Toffees' latest task is to break down the leanest defence in the league and Howard recognises that the Blues will have their work cut out for them if they are to claim a first victory at the Britannia Stadium since September 2008.
"Stoke is a tough nut to crack," explained Howard.
"They've been in the Premier League for a number of years now and it just doesn't seem that we've had very good results there. The tide needs to turn and it needs to turn this weekend.
"We'll certainly do everything we can to fix that.
"They're playing well at home - they've been stingy and not given too much away. So it could be nip and tuck, but we've shown that we can be resilient as well."
