Everton Under-18s will head to Port Vale in the FA Youth Cup fourth round.

The young Blues progressed to the last 32 with an impressive 2-0 win at Southampton on Monday evening.

George Waring and Conor Grant got the goals to put Everton in the hat - and they were handed a trip to face either the Valiants or Crystal Palace in Friday's draw.

The two sides contested their third round tie later that evening, with Palace suffering a 2-0 defeat at Selhurst Park.

Speaking after the Blues' win at St. Mary's, boss Kevin Sheedy admitted staying in the competition is another boost to take into the New Year.

He told evertontv: "We've got the Christmas break coming up now, so it's always nice to know we're involved in the next round of the Youth Cup.

"We finished third in the league so we'll be playing against the better teams in the country in January, so overall it's been a very good first half of the season for us."

Fourth round ties will be played before Saturday 19 January. Keep an eye on evertonfc.com for fixture details.
