David Moyes is hoping history can repeat itself when Everton travel to Premier League champions Manchester City on Saturday.

Under Moyes, Everton have won 11 of 20 meetings with the Citizens, including eight of the last 10 - and four of the last five at Eastlands.

However, Roberto Mancini's side haven’t lost at home since suffering a 2-1 reverse against the Toffees in December 2010 – a run of 36 games.

And, speaking exclusively to evertontv, the Blue boss said: "They're up at the top of the league just behind Manchester United. I think by their standards, they've maybe not played as well as they can but I think their points total has been very good.

"I think we've had some good performances [against City]. I don't know if they're up there with the best in my time here but I think we've done quite well when we've played them and we'll try to do that again."

Meanwhile, Moyes was delighted to welcome back midfielder Darron Gibson, admitting Everton missed the former Manchester United star.

Gibson sat out almost three months with a troublesome thigh problem before making his first-team comeback in Wednesday's 1-1 draw with Arsenal.

And while the 25-year-old has only been at the Club since January, Moyes believes he has already emerged as an integral cog in the side.

"We were pleased to have him back," he said. "We've been short of numbers and we've missed him. He did fine [against Arsenal]. We just hope he's fine with his injury and he's recovered well enough."

Right-back Tony Hibbert was another to return against the Gunners, but Kevin Mirallas, Victor Anichebe (both hamstring), Seamus Coleman and Phil Neville (knee) were all absentees.

And with just 72 hours between games, Moyes admits his primary concern is getting players ready for the challenge ahead.

"We're just really getting the players through recovery as quick as we can," he said. "They put in a big effort against Arsenal and we know we have to put in another big effort on Saturday.”
