Allocating For Aways

How we choose your seats for games on the road.

With Everton playing some of the most eye-catching football the Premier League has to offer this season, the appetite to watch the Blues both home and away is as keen as ever.

As such, demand for away tickets is high and increasingly the Club sells-out its full allocation for games on the road.

In recent weeks, Everton officials have received a number of queries and questions regarding the allocation of seats at away games and the process by which the seating area for each band of supporters is chosen.

Sales of away tickets are sold via a series of 'windows', with the most loyal away supporters invited to buy first.

The first tickets sold are those the Club deem to be the best available to our supporters, although it is accepted that this choice is open to debate.

"When allocating tickets to supporters for an away match, the Fan Centre try, where possible, to issue tickets based on what they deem to be the best available," explained Everton's Head of Ticketing, Matt Kendall. "In quite a lot of instances, we are instructed by the home club as to what order they would like the tickets to be sold in due to segregation.

"However, when we’re confident we will sell out an away allocation, we will often sell the more central seats first, meaning that the most loyal of away supporters are issued the better tickets, assuming that they have purchased in their priority sales window.

"We do realise that not everybody has the same taste in seats - some people think that the front row, just off centre behind the goals are the best; others the back row of a lower tier.

"It’s all down to individual taste but ultimately we try to allocate what we feel are the best seats we can to those who have attended away matches more frequently."

On Saturday, Everton travel to Manchester City's Etihad Stadium, a game for which the Club sold a complete allocation of 2,836 tickets in just fives days, with the total number of tickets being snapped up by Goodison Park Season Ticket holders who have attended at least two away games in 2012/13.

"Wherever we go Evertonians always travel well and our fans are always really important," said manager David Moyes. "They know it will be a tough game to go to the Etihad Stadium, to the champions. It will be a tough game so anything we can get we'll need, and hopefully the fans will be there to support us as always."
