Limpar: Fellaini The Key
Former Blue tipping the midfielder to influence Wednesday's game.
Anders Limpar believes the returning Marouane Fellaini could help Everton to win the battle between his two former clubs on Wednesday evening.
Limpar, who represented Arsenal for four years prior to his switch to Goodison Park in 1994, was back in Merseyside over the weekend to watch the Blues’ 1-1 draw with Norwich City.
And having taken in the action from the stands on Saturday, the 47-year-old believes one man’s contribution could prove crucial if Everton are to brush aside the Gunners.
“Hopefully Fellaini is back because I think that he can make the difference,” said the 1995 FA Cup winner. “I think we can beat Arsenal on Wednesday night.
“They are very inconsistent. I’m not sure what is going on at Arsenal, but that is not my concern. I’d rather follow Everton.”
Having followed the Blues' progress closely so far this season, Limpar has been encouraged with the start made by David Moyes’ men.
Kevin Mirallas has caught the caught the Swede’s eye, as has Steven Pienaar. However, Limpar was quick to single out Leighton Baines for special praise because of the way he supports those in front of him on the flank.
He added: “It’s part of Everton’s history to have flair players. Mirallas is one of them and Pienaar is one of my personal favourites because he is always good to look at.
“The experience of Leighton Baines is vital. I played in front of Gary Ablett and Andy Hinchcliffe, and Nigel Winterburn and they all made me look good - that’s the honest truth.
“If you have a good left or right full-back behind you, that’s the helpful thing for a winger.”
