Everton Chile Seal Promotion
The Ruleteros complete top-flight return.
Everton Chile secured promotion back to the Primera División following a 4-1 aggregate win at University de Concepción on Sunday.
The club, founded in 1909 by Anglo-Chilean teenagers following the Blues' tour of South America, returned to the top-flight in front of 4,000 travelling fans.
Leading 1-0 from the first leg at their own ground Estadio Sausalito, the Ruleteros completed the task 11 hours from home.
After Gabriel Vargas had missed an early penalty for the hosts, José Luis Muñoz netted for Everton just before half-time.
Renato Ramos grabbed Concepción's leveller on the hour-mark from the spot, but Muñoz notched his second just minutes later to make it 3-1 on aggregate.
And deep in injury time Jonathan Suazo sealed the vital victory that sends Everton Chile back to the division that they have won four times.
The Chileans famously played Everton at Goodison Park in 2010 with the home side running out 2-0 winners.
