Everton manager David Moyes could barely hide his frustration after watching his side throw away a 1-0 lead to lose at Reading.

The Blues flew out of the traps and were ahead inside 10 minutes through Steven Naismith but failed to capitalise on a hatful of chances before succumbing to Adam Le Fondre's second-half brace.

A first half Everton dominated also saw the visitors denied two penalties, first when Kaspars Gorkss bundled over Naismith, then when Sean Morrison stopped a Nikica Jelavic shot with his arm.

Speaking after the game, a furious Moyes said: “I’m as angry as I’ve ever been after a game. I’m not angry with the officials, I’m angry with my team.

“We were outstanding in the first half, like we were against Fulham and against Sunderland.

“But we didn’t punish them; we left the door ajar, and let them in. We were more generous with them, we gave them corners and free-kicks, gave the ball away in midfield.

“You have got to give Reading and Brian McDermott credit because they kept at it, but we encouraged them. We are not putting away the chances we are creating."

Reading's winner came from the penalty spot after Seamus Coleman was punished for a foul on Le Fondre.

And discussing the game's key decisions, Moyes added: "Certainly one is a penalty where it hits his arm. I have no complaints against Coleman’s, which was a definite penalty. But I felt we should have had one.”

Shaun AtteberryThis is a great team. We can't keep playing down to our opposition's level. And we need some clean sheets. We should easily have at least 7 or 8 more points than we do.

CRAIG MUTTERThink the defenders need to look up the word 'clean sheet' in the dictionary. Never feel confident this season unless we are more than 1 ahead.
