Lundstram Seals Last-Gasp Win
Young Blue scores late penalty for England Under-19s.
John Lundstram kept his nerve for England Under-19s as he netted a 93rd-minute penalty to seal a 1-0 win over Finland on Tuesday evening.
The Blues midfielder, skipper for the Young Lions, stepped up to score from the spot with the last kick of the game at the New Bucks Head Stadium in Telford.
After the game, Lundstram admitted he was relieved with the last-gasp victory.
He said: "I didn't think we did the best tonight really, but we kept going and I was just glad to get the goal.
"I thought in the first half, we could've done a bit better and in the second half, we played ourselves into the game.
"They pressed us well, but the further the game went on, the more we got on top really."
Liverpool-born Lundstram went on to state that his continued national captaincy is something he sees as a huge honour.
He said: "Even the first time you put the armband on, it's brilliant and it still is now.
"I've done it a few times now and I still get the same feeling every time I do."
