Double Awards Delight
News of another Community prize and Goodison's unsung hero.
There was double award delight for Everton at the North West Football Awards on Monday night.
Everton in the Community was Community Club of the Year for a second consecutive year.
And long-standing Goodison painter and decorator John Manville was handed the Unsung Hero award.
Everton in the Community, the Blues’ official charity, scooped the prestigious accolade after beating off competition from three other club community schemes from around the North West of England, including City in the Community, Wigan Athletic Community Trust and Bolton Wanderers Community Trust.
On hand to accept the award at Lancashire Cricket Club were EitC chief executive Denise Barrett-Baxendale and Everton director Jon Woods.
The news comes as Everton in the Community announced its 25th anniversary campaign this month to raise awareness of the difference the charity has made to vulnerable and underprivileged people on Merseyside during the last quarter of a century.
EitC is inviting all Evertonians to be a part of the Club’s biggest ever charitable campaign to raise £1million to help Everton in the Community in its mission to support even more people across the region for the next 25 years – and beyond.
Unsung Hero John has been keeping Goodison Park in shipshape condition for over three decades having joined the Club 33 years ago.
