Moyes Shares Big Ambitions
Boss aims to satisfy stars' appetite for European football.
David Moyes is focussed on helping satisfy the appetite for European football amongst his squad of international stars.
Everton's rich vein of form in the opening months of this season has led to an inevitable spotlight on the top performers in the team.
Marouane Fellaini set the tone with his Man of the Match display in the season opener against Manchester United.
And in the weeks since, the big Belgian international has continued to catch the eye of fans and media pundits alike with his buccaneering performances in a more advanced role.
But whilst the Goodison boss is pragmatic about the focus such form can bring, he suggests the hunger of his star players for career progression can be satisfied at Goodison Park - if they maintain the feast of football they have dished up thus far this term.
He told the media: “My biggest job is to make sure that the players here can see that Everton have got a chance and be competitive in the Premier League.
“Felli knows what I think and I know what he thinks. He’d love to take Everton into the Champions League and that’s what we’ll try to achieve.”
As for the current form of Fellaini, Moyes is relaxed about the prospect of clubs watching him.
He added: “Everybody knows where he is and if they want to come and watch him that’s up to them. It would be a big price on his head.
“I was dead against selling players and I’m still dead against it. Don’t think I’m saying that people can come and just take my players."
