Nikica Jelavic has vowed to keep the goals flowing this season - for the fans.

The Croatian international netted the winner in Saturday's 2-1 victory over Sunderland - taking his tally to five goals from 11 appearances this term.

It was his first strike since the Blues' opener in the 2-2 draw at Wigan last month and the forward was delighted to be back on the goal trail.

He exclusively told evertontv: "For a striker it is always important to score for the confidence and for the fans and the team as well, so I hope I can score many for them.

"Obviously I am pleased to score but the most important thing was the three points. It was a tough game with them scoring in the last minute of the first half.

"We were better in the second half and scored two quick goals so in the end I think we deserved the victory."

Jelavic has now scored 16 goals from 23 starts since his arrival from Rangers in January.

His strike against the Black Cats ended a run of four consecutive draws and ensured Everton kept their grip on fourth place in the Premier League.

He added: "We've been playing very well but the last few games we'd drawn. The win was important for our place in the table and I hope we can continue to play as well as we have been playing."
