Donovan's 'Full-Blown Affair'

Landon Donovan reveals the magnitude of his love for the Blues.

Former Everton loanee Landon Donovan has described his relationship with the Blues as 'a fling that grew into a full-blown affair'.

The LA Galaxy forward spent two brief spells on Merseyside during the MLS off-season in 2009/10 and 2011/12.

And the Goodison faithful took the United States star into their hearts after his consistently impressive performances twice aided the Club's late season charges.

Now it would seem that Everton has had a similarly lasting effect on Donovan.

"I do think about them because they really stole my heart when I walked into Goodison Park," he revealed. "Everyone was so unbelievably welcoming, from Mr. Moyes to the tea lady."

"Everton was a fling that grew into a full-blown affair."

But with the current MLS campaign nearing its end, Donovan is set for some serious soul-searching as he ponders his future.

He said: "Right now, I need time to think and that is impossible to achieve while I am playing.

"I have some selfish things I need to do, and I have some things to work out. While most soccer fans think a player's life is easy as we just seem to play soccer all the time, they don't see how many milestones I have missed with my family.

"My family want me to either play and be happy or to have their son and brother back.

"I need to determine if I want to play, and if the answer is yes, I need to work out where and for how long."
