Thomas Hitzlsperger is delighted to have proved he is worthy of a contract at Everton.
The 30-year-old former German international signed a short-term deal with the Blues on Friday that runs until January.
It means that, subject to international clearance being granted, he is now eligible for Premier League action as an Everton player and could be in the squad at QPR on Sunday.
After four weeks training with David Moyes' side in a bid to prove his fitness after a long-term injury, it is a move that thrills the former Aston Villa midfielder.
He told evertontv: "I have been here for four weeks training with the lads and I've really enjoyed it. So I'm delighted we've finally agreed on a contract and I can't wait for the first game.
"I am happy with the way things have developed. In the summer I had just come back from injury and when I first came here and got the opportunity to train with the team I was delighted. It is a good team that has had a good start to the season and it was a great chance for me to get back into Premiership football.
"I am hoping for continued success. The team has started really well and I want to be a part of this team and its success. I want to add some quality to the squad. There is a lot of quality here already but I want to add a little bit and hopefully get some games and play well."
The warm welcome in the Goodison dressing room is a common theme amongst new additions and Hitzlsperger is no different.
He added: "The players make it really easy for you to settle in because they are a great bunch of people. The football is very enjoyable training with them but off the pitch they make it very easy as well because they have great character. I have enjoyed every second of it.
"The manager sets the tone here. I have spoken to him a lot over the four weeks and I have always had a good feeling talking to him. You can tell he makes the players work very hard and that is why we are enjoying success and in a good position in the league. Now we have to try and maintain it."
Hitzlsperger has been given the number 16 shirt.

steve rodwellCould be another gold signing. Still can't believe we got Gibson so cheap, and I reckon Hitz will be a big hit on the terraces.
