Extra Day Boosts Jagielka
Everton's Sunday afternoon kick off a bonus after Poland farce.
Phil Jagielka is thankful for an extra day of recovery after England's delayed game against Poland.
Jagielka played 90 minutes of Wednesday afternoon's 1-1 draw in Warsaw after the game was put back a day due to a waterlogged pitch.
The central defender now returns to Everton with the Blues not playing until 4pm on Sunday when they face QPR at Loftus Road.
That schedule is in contrast to several of Jagielka's England teammates who will appear for Tottenham and Chelsea on Saturday lunchtime.
"We have had a chat with the rest of the lads," said Jagielka. "Some people kick off at 12.45pm on Saturday and a couple of us have Sunday kick-offs which I am sure our manager will be delighted with.
"We have the extra day to rest up the legs but it's out of our control really. It's been like chalk and cheese, on Tuesday it didn't stop raining and Wednesday was a beautiful day. That's just the way it goes."
Jagielka took a philosophical view of England's trip to Poland, explaining that while the performance could be improved the result itself may prove to be a positive one.
"The pitch was difficult," he conceded. "We knew it was going to be difficult with the rainfall they had had but both teams had to play on the pitch and we aren't making excuses. They are a good team, they were right up for it. In the end we'll take a point.
"If we are looking at the positives, which we have to, then we are top of the group so maybe a point isn't such a bad result."
