Ladies Thank Departing Marley
Everton Ladies pay tribute to departing boss Mo Marley.
Everton Ladies players have thanked departing boss Mo Marley for her contribution to the Club.
Marley resigned on Saturday after a decade at the helm.
And reaction quickly began appearing on Twitter as members of the squad paid tribute to her achievements and wished her the best for the future.
Marley's assistant Andy Spence, also general manager of Everton Ladies, said: "My admiration and thanks for what Mo has done for the club and myself personally has no limits. Thank you my mentor."
Everton's experienced defender Lindsay Johnson, an England international, tweeted: "Sad news today…Mo stepping down! As dedicated and committed as you will find anywhere, a true ambassador for football. We as players and a team will miss her leadership and knowledge. Personally I have a lot to thank Mo for. We wish her all the best for her future."
Another England star, Jill Scott, said: "Gutted about Mo leaving Everton. No-one more committed than her to the Club and the game. Wish her every success for the future."
As well as managing Everton's senior women's team Marley has been instrumental in developing young players with one success story, Toni Duggan, recently making her senior England debut.
Duggan said: Emotional day. 140 characters isn't enough to tell you how much I appreciate what Mo Marley has done for both myself and EFC ladies."
Her teammate Danielle Hill added: "Actually can't believe it. If you think Everton Ladies you think Mo Marley. Wish you all the best. You have done ELFC proud. Thank you for everything."
Midfielder Amy Kane scored the winner in Everton's 2008 League Cup triumph.
She said: "Sad day all round at Everton. Gutted to see Mo leave, she has been at the heart of Everton since I can remember and turned the club around. Will be strange not having her around but I wish her all the success in the future. Good luck Mo."
Marley will continue to coach England's Under-19 side. Everton Ladies' search for a new manager begins immediately.
