Everton goalkeeper Jan Mucha has retired from international football with immediate effect.

The 29-year-old Slovakian was his country's No.1 during the 2010 World Cup and hangs up his gloves on 35 caps.

Mucha, who moved to Goodison Park from Polish outfit Legia Warsaw two years ago, was not selected for Slovakia's forthcoming World Cup qualifiers against Latvia and Greece after informing coaches Stanislav Griga and Michael Hipp of his decision.

A back-up to Tim Howard, he has made seven appearances for the Blues, most recently deputising for the American in last month's Capital One Cup defeat at Leeds.

Minik HansenAlrite, good luck with your decision Mucha. I hope it's a good decision on ur behalf. All the best.
