Steve Round says Leighton Baines' performance against Wigan was as good as any he's seen from a full-back.
The 27-year-old was a constant threat to his former employers and capped off a fine display by netting a point-earning penalty three minutes from time.
"I thought Leighton Baines was world class today, he really was," Round told evertontv following the 2-2 draw. "He was as good as I've seen any full-back play ever. He was so good."
The Blues twice had to come from behind to earn a share of the spoils and Round was pleased by the resolve and determination on display.
"Wigan were coming off a few defeats and they tried to make it a cup final," he added. "You've got to come here and dig deep and show the character and spirit we're renowned for and I think you saw that to come back twice.
"With a little bit more luck or maybe if it wasn't for their goalkeeper, we might have come away with three points.
"We were a little bit disappointed with the first half, though I have to credit Wigan, I thought they played really well and with a real intensity to their game.
"We said in the dressing room that we weren't sure they could keep that speed and that pace up and that it was time for us to take over control of the game. The manager made a couple of tactical changes and one positional change and in the second half we played some really good football.
"It keeps the run going and when you're trying to finish high up in the league you've got to get points at places like this."
