Shane Duffy has challenged Everton's Under-21s to build on their recent resurgent form and rack up a third straight win at Norwich on Monday.

The young Blues endured a turbulent start to the season with consecutive defeats against West Brom, West Ham and Arsenal.

A 1-1 draw at Reading was then followed by a first win of the campaign at Blackburn before a 5-2 rout was posted last time out against Bolton.

"I'm looking forward to the game," defender Duffy told evertontv. "Hopefully we can build on the last two performances.

"Against Blackburn we battled in an Everton way and won 1-0, and in the last game [against Bolton] we showed our qualities even though we went 2-1 down. We're a good team and if we are losing we don't shy away from it, we stick together and we ran away with it in the end.
"Hopefully we can take that into the game on Monday and get another good win."

Having spent much of the last three seasons in and around the second-string set-up, Duffy acknowledges he is now one of the team's older heads.

It's a challenge to which he has responded. Not only is he an obvious leader at the back, the 20-year-old Irishman also has four goals in his last four games.

"The Under-21s is the only football I'm getting at the minute and I have to step up and show the manager that I can be experienced one day," he said. "As a centre-half as well I've got to be loud and try to get the younger players to feel comfortable, which the senior players in the first team do for me. I'm enjoying it at the minute, the role.

"Obviously the goals are a good thing but I'd rather have the clean sheet all day long to be honest. Alan Stubbs keeps telling me to get in the box and that I should be scoring more, so hopefully I'm doing that this year."

In the above video, Shane discusses more about Everton's Under-21s, his love of Twitter and taking on fans at FIFA13*.
