'We Didn't Panic'
Leon Osman praises attitude of Blues in recovery against Saints.
Leon Osman insists the key factor in Everton's fightback against Southampton was the refusal to panic.
Gaston Ramirez stunned the home crowd by netting inside the first six minutes on Saturday afternoon, but a swift recovery saw the Blues cruise to a 3-1 victory.
Osman netted the leveller from close range before Nikica Jelavic's deadly brace, and the midfielder believes a professional attitude was evident in the response.
He told evertontv: "No one wants to start the game by going a goal down in the first few minutes, but we showed good character.
"The lads didn't panic and didn't get nervous. We carried on playing and were rewarded with the goals before half time."
Osman's own strike was typical of the long-serving Academy graduate, as he raced into the box perfectly positioned to pounce on a loose ball. The top-corner finish was emphatic.
"It probably went a little bit higher than I was going for," he admitted. "But it went in and that was the pleasing thing.
"We're playing some decent football at the minute. Hopefully the fans are enjoying it because we are.
"But we've got to make sure we score the goals when the opportunities come and we did that today."
