Matthew Kennedy is set for his first appearance in an Everton shirt for the Under-21s on Friday.

Alan Stubbs' side head to Reading with the deadline day arrival from Kilmarnock set to feature.

The Blues are also boosted by the return of Shane Duffy and Apostolos Vellios from international duty as they seek a first point of the campaign.

Portuguese midfielder Francisco Junior is also set for a run-out after a brief injury lay-off.

A bullish Stubbs told evertontv: "I am expecting a performance. I am expecting us to get a result and I am expecting a turnaround from the losses we have had in recent games.

"It's not ideal having players away as we haven't got a big squad as it is. We understand that it is going to be that way and it's great for the lads to be involved internationally.

"We will leave on Thursday but I am preparing as if we won't have too many experienced players because we have the first team game on Monday."

The clash with the Royals will take place at Reading's training ground on Friday, kick off 1.30pm. Updates will be available on the official Twitter feed and evertonfc.com.

Everton: Taudul, Browning, Garbutt, Lundstram, Duffy, Hammar, Grant, Junior, Vellios, Kelly, Kennedy, Springthorpe, Hope, Forrester, Pennington, Green.
