Steven Naismith has called on Scotland's 'Tartan Army' to help them get a positive result against Macedonia on Tuesday.

Craig Levein's side were booed off at Hampden Park on Saturday after being held to a goalless draw by Serbia in their opening World Cup qualifier.

But the hosts created numerous chances to nick the tie and Naismith believes fans should keep faith ahead of the country's second home outing in four days.

“It’s up to the supporters what they do," said Naismith. "It was a good show from us, without taking our chances. I’m sure the fans will stick by us.

“They create a good atmosphere and they want to see goals. When we’re playing well, the fans are right behind us and I’m sure that will be the case on Tuesday.

“No one can say we weren’t attacking. We pushed bodies forward, created chances and got people in the box.

“All we lacked was a goal and I felt we deserved one from the way we played.”

Naismith admits he should have done better with a chance he squandered in the second half.

And despite picking up a point, the forward said: “You always look to win your home games and we are disappointed we couldn’t do it against Serbia.

“We had the better, clear-cut chances. I was really disappointed not to score with the chance I had in the second half.”

Tuesday's opponents Macedonia opened their qualifying campaign with a 1-0 defeat to Croatia, the decisive goal coming from Everton striker Nikica Jelavic.
