Senior Cup Final Nears
Blues ready to face Tranmere for trophy on Wednesday.
An Everton XI will compete in the Liverpool Senior Cup final tomorrow evening.
The Blues make the short trip to Prenton Park where hosts Tranmere Rovers await in the climax of the annual competition.
Everton are expected to field a young team although there could be opportunities for some more experienced players to get a run-out.
And there could be a familiar face in the opposition line-up, as Academy graduate James Wallace looks to skipper the side he joined earlier this summer.
The 20-year old moved to the League One outfit after struggling to break into David Moyes' first team, and insists it will be tough to play against some of his former teammates.
“I will always support Everton,” said Wallace. “You are an Evertonian for life.
“My dad is an Evertonian. I started going to games at Goodison with him at around about the time David Moyes took over as manager. We had a season ticket in the Main Stand for four years.
"My first priority now however, has to be to Tranmere.”
A semi-final victory over Bootle FC put the Toffees through to face Rovers, who came out on top in a penalty shootout with Prescot Cables.
Everton have won the trophy more than any other team on Merseyside - the 45th and most recent win coming in 2007.
Kick-off at Prenton Park is at 7.30pm. Tickets are available on the turnstiles priced at £10 for adults, £5 for over-60s and those between the ages of 17 and 22 and £4 for under-16s and disabled supporters.
