Anton Hails Dunc's Influence
Young striker set for pre-season clash at Hereford.
Duncan Ferguson's wealth of experience is proving invaluable for the Club's emerging forwards.
That is the view of Academy striker Anton Forrester, who will tomorrow travel to Hereford United with the Club’s reserves for pre-season action.
Ferguson has been working with the Blues’ young strikers since returning to the Club at the start of 2012.
Last season Apostolos Vellios spoke about how much he enjoyed working with the legendary Scot, and Forrester is also a fan.
"Having someone like Dunc to work with is great," he told evertonfc.com. "He is a great coach on finishing.
“He is a legend. He is a funny guy as well. He has a laugh with you in training and works hard on the finishing with the strikers."
Forrester, who was given a taste of first-team action as a substitute in the 4-1 pre-season victory at Morecambe, is also thankful of the education he is receiving from the Club's senior players.
The 18-year-old added: "(Training with the senior players) in Austria was brilliant, but it was hard work. It was a good experience being with the first team lads.
"It was as hard as I expected. I came last year with the youth team and it was hard then as well.
"But being with the first team has shown how much quicker the tempo is with the senior players.
"The first team players act so much more mature and it is good being around them.
"I can't wait for the season to start now."
The Blues second-string started their pre-season with a win and a loss in a mini-tournament in Scotland and, after the trip to Edgar Street, several reserves are expected to be involved in the Liverpool Senior Cup final against Tranmere Rovers on August 1 (7.30pm).
