Magaye Gueye is set to become an Olympian after accepting a call-up from Senegal.

The African nation are part of the eight-team Olympic football tournament and line up in group A with Team GB.

Gueye was born in France but his parents are from the west-African country, meaning he is eligible to take part in this summer’s games.

Gueye, 22, has played for France’s Under-21s but thinks his best chance of an international future could be with the nation known as the 'Lions of Teranga'.

Since arriving at Everton in July 2010, Gueye has progressed steadily and made 24 appearances last season, scoring his first goal for the Club against Sunderland in April.

Also in group A with GB and Senegal are Uruguay and the UAE. One other familiar name in the squad is West Ham United midfielder Mohamed Diame, formerly of Wigan, though Papiss Cisse and Demba Ba have been left out after Newcastle were reportedly reluctant to release the pair.

Gueye is set to link up with the national squad after Everton's training camp in Austria. Senegal's first game is against Great Britain on 26 July.
