Fellaini's Big Ambitions
Belgian signals his big ambitions for the upcoming season.
Marouane Fellaini has signalled his big ambitions for the upcoming season.
The influential Belgian midfielder was in Jakarta this week to launch the Java Cup, a tournament in Indonesia which will form part of Everton's pre-season preparations.
And when the season proper gets underway, Fellaini will be focussed on achieving some clear aims.
He told evertontv: "First we have to start the season well, second, my aim is to win something like the FA Cup or the League Cup and to finish in the Europa League.
"I have been here for four years, so of course I want to win a trophy."
A strong start to the season - Everton's downfall in recent years - is key to Fellaini's aspirations of a return to European competition.
So summer preparation is key, particularly with the league campaign kicking off with one of the toughest games of the season.
Fellaini is expecting the Indonesia trip to be an important part of the warm-up schedule.
He continued: "That is why we need very good preparation because it will be difficult against Manchester United.
"Galatasaray have very good players, and you are playing against a national team so they will be good players as well. I think it is a good test for Everton before the start of the season.
"I have been at Everton for four years and each time we have started badly so I hope this year we start well.
"My body has had a month's rest so I will go to Finch Farm next week and I am happy to start back."
