Forshaw, Hope & Brown Honoured
Reserves, Academy and Ladies' winners announced
A delighted Adam Forshaw spelled out his determination to keep on progressing after collecting the Reserves’ Player of the Season award on Thursday night.
Forshaw’s individual progress has been a key component in a much-improved season for the second string.
The midfielder’s craft, cunning, technique and footballing intelligence all shone through before League One Brentford took him on loan in February.
The 20-year-old won rave reviews at Griffin Park before a broken jaw all but ended his season.
Even still, 2011/12 was a good season for the Academy graduate – and one he is eager to build on.
Forshaw said: “It was unfortunate to get the injury when I did but I am feeling better now and it has been a good season for us.
“I trained with the first team at the start of the season and it really helped me and I have really enjoyed my football.
“Hopefully it is onwards and upwards from here.”
It was also a good night for young forward Hallam Hope as the Toffees marked the end of another season with a ceremony at St George’s Hall.
Hope was named Academy Player of the Season following another promising showing from the England Under-19 international.
Hope said: “It has been a good season, we have worked hard and trained hard and I have enjoyed it.
“Everton is a great club, all the players and staff are superb and it is a pleasure to play here.”
Meanwhile, the achievements of Everton Ladies were also celebrated, with experienced keeper Rachel Brown collecting their Player of the Year award.
England international Brown is a real mainstay of the Blues side and she was instrumental in the team achieving a third-placed finish in the inaugural WSL.
Brown said: Our votes were based on last season and the start of this one which is just starting, so it is a little strange but I am delighted to win.
“We want to win trophies just like the men’s team do, we’ve made a good start and hopefully we can get our hands on some silverware.”
