Blues Duo Up For Awards
Moyes and Baines on Premier League ’20 Seasons’ shortlists.
David Moyes and Leighton Baines have been shortlisted for awards celebrating 20 years of the Premier League.
This season sees the current English top-flight reach two decades of existence following its formation in 1992.
And to celebrate, the Premier League has launched its own ‘20 Seasons Awards’ - many of which can be voted for by fans.
Moyes, who has been in charge of Everton for 10 of those years, has been nominated for the Manager of the 20 Seasons award alongside Harry Redknapp, Arsene Wenger, Jose Mourinho and Sir Alex Ferguson.
Meanwhile, Baines is on a 10-man shortlist for the left-back slot in a fantasy team comprising the best players of the Premier League era. The former Wigan man is nearing the end of his seventh campaign in the Premier League and is up against the likes of Ashley Cole, Stuart Pearce and Denis Irwin.
Elsewhere, former Toffees wingers Andrei Kanchelskis and David Ginola make the cut for the best right midfielder and best left midfielder categories respectively.
Academy graduate Wayne Rooney is included in the best forward and best goal selections.
Supporters can cast their vote now for many of the awards, including additional categories such as best match, best celebration and best save.
A panel made up of leading football figures, journalists and commentators will vote for Player of the 20 Seasons, Manager of the 20 Seasons, Team of the 20 Seasons (from one individual season), Best Season and Most Memorable Quote.
The winners will be honoured at a special presentation ceremony on Tuesday 15 May.
