Moyes Names Semi-Final Team
Blues go with same side that beat Sunderland in last round.
David Moyes has plumped for his tried and tested FA Cup formula against Liverpool at Wembley.
The Scot has named the same starting XI that outclassed Sunderland in the previous round for today’s semi-final.
That means dangerman Nikica Jelavic – scorer of four goals in his last four games – will lead the line just ahead of Tim Cahill, the Australian his brawny, formidable foil.
Magaye Gueye gets the nod on the left wing for what is undoubtedly the biggest game of the Frenchman’s fledgling career. On the opposite flank Leon Osman will provide some width, with Marouane Fellaini and Darron Gibson completing the midfield.
At the back the rock-solid pairing of Sylvain Distin and Johnny Heitinga are picked at the heart of the defence. Phil Neville takes the armband at right back while Leighton Baines is the left full-back.
As ever, Tim Howard takes his place between the sticks.
On the bench the Blues have their very own super-sub in the shape of Victor Anichebe – the striker has five goals off the bench this season.
