New FA Cup Mascot For Blues

Adopted newborn foal fitting for match on Grand National weekend.

New FA Cup Mascot For Blues

As FA Cup fever continues to sweep across Merseyside, Evertonians have another reason to celebrate this week with a new addition to the Blues family.

Everton chairman Bill Kenwright and his partner Jenny Seagrove have adopted a newborn foal as the Club’s new mascot ahead of this weekend’s FA Cup semi-final.

The foal was born at Mane Chance Sanctuary in Guildford this week to a horse that was recently rescued by Ms Seagrove and the rest of the charity’s team earlier this year.

The horse was promptly named Blueboy by Mr Kenwright, in honour of his beloved Everton Football Club, after he noticed the foal’s markings were blue roan on white.

With the Grand National and all-Merseyside FA Cup semi-final both taking place on Saturday, Blueboy has arrived in perfect time.

The colt was born to Gwen, who was rescued in January after being hurt by previous human contact.

The team at Mane Chance Sanctuary, where Ms Seagrove is founding trustee, worked alongside a horse communicator, James French, to gain Gwen’s trust over a period of six weeks before successfully bringing her to the sanctuary.

The charity, which was set up by Ms Seagrove in September, is devoted to helping animals – mainly horses – who have been abused, neglected or abandoned.

The sanctuary provides shelter, rehabilitation, rehoming and long-term care. All staff are volunteers and donations go directly to care for the animals. For more information visit www.manechancesanctuary.org.
