Testing Times For Loan Stars

Everton's band of on-loan players had tricky afternoons on Saturday.

The point of loaning out promising youngsters is to allow them to gain experience of the professional game.

And there were some valuable lessons learned in Leagues One and Two this weekend.

At Brentford Adam Forshaw broke his jaw in the first half of the Bees' clash with Rochdale.

The 20-year-old midfielder was set to undergo an operation but remained positive on Twitter, writing: "Up for a header an next thing broken jaw in three places. Hope to be back as soon as possible. On a plus note I am made up for the win and the clean sheet too!"

Forshaw's Everton teammate Jake Bidwell was in the Brentfod side which eventually won 2-0.

Also in League One James Wallace was forced off with injury as Tranmere defeated Exeter by the same scoreline.

Happily Wallace tweeted: "Should be fit (for the next game) just a bit of niggle."

Conor McAleny played his first game for Scunthorpe in their stalemate with Notts County. The forward only joined the Iron earlier this week but only had a yellow card to show for his substitute appearance at Glanford Park.

He tweeted: "Nice to make my Scunny debut today. Thought we should/could have sneaked it towards the end. Crowd were great as well."

In League Two Toto Nsiala saw red as his Accrington side lost 2-1 to struggling Dagenham and Redbridge. He'd been booked but was shown a straight red for violent conduct late on and cut an angry figure as he was escorted from the field.

Luke Garbutt's promotion-chasing Cheltenham were frustrated in a 0-0 draw with Oxford.
