Wallace Enjoying Rovers
Midfielder says spell at Tranmere is making him a better player.
James Wallace believes his loan spell at Tranmere is improving him as a player.
The midfielder has made five appearances since joining the League One outfit in January, earning rave reviews for his performances.
Earlier this week, a deal was struck to keep Wallace at Prenton Park for a further month - a move the 21-year-old feels can only be good for his development.
“I think I am learning with every game I play and hopefully it is helping me as a player," he said. “The idea is to get as much experience as I can so when I go back to Everton, the manager will look at me and think I have learned a lot.
“Playing for points in League One is totally different to playing reserve team football at Everton. It’s not the best when you’re playing against a mixture of youth team players and senior pros in the reserves. When you’re playing for points, every game means a lot.”
Wallace owns England caps at Under-19 and Under-20 level and has previously spent time on loan at Stockport County and Shrewsbury Town, playing a total of 17 League Two games.
But while the Liverpool-born youngster has adapted quickly to life in the next tier up, he is yet to feature on a winning side for his new club.
Rovers are currently 17th in the League One table and just three points above the drop-zone, but Wallace feels recent draws against promotion chasers Huddersfield and Charlton prove Parry's side are on the up.
“I would love to help us get back up the table, to where we were early in the season," he said. "The last two home games have got to be positive for us. We were playing against teams going for promotion in Huddersfield and Charlton, and did well against them.”
