David Moyes admitted he was delighted to see his Everton side book a place in the FA Cup quarter-finals.

Goals in the first seven minutes from Royston Drenthe and Denis Stracqualursi proved enough to put the Blues through at the expense of Championship Blackpool.

Moyes' men missed a raft of opportunities to extend their lead, while veteran Kevin Phillips missed a spot-kick for the visitors in second-half injury time.

The Blues boss felt his side were good value for their win, however, and set his sights on progressing even further.

"Obviously the early goal helped us a lot, but the game was never over," said Moyes. "Blackpool had a great shot at the end where Tim Howard made a great save and they missed a penalty kick.

"That would have only been half the story though because we missed a hatful of chances to put the game well beyond doubt.

"They're tough, Blackpool. They were last year in the Premier League and they're proving it now in the Championship. We had to keep at it the whole game, we were never that comfortable.

"Two-nil was always a vulnerable result. If they scored one, it would have been game on really."

Drenthe's opener came after just 49 seconds and Moyes admitted the quickfire start ultimately made a difference.

He said: "It was a great start and it settled everyone down with a great crowd here today."

"You just try and win your games," he added. "It's a great feeling to be into the quarter-final. We're going to try to get to the final and win it - but I said that before the draw was made for the third round."
