Jags Heads Back To Bellefield
Defender launches show homes at site of former training ground.
Phil Jagielka got something of a shock when he returned to the site of Everton's former training ground, Bellefield, on Sunday.
Redevelopment of the complex, which the Blues vacated in October 2007, started just over a year ago and it is now home to a raft of luxury dwellings.
Jagielka was there to promote the opening of the first showrooms and he told evertontv: "It's really strange - I didn't know what to expect.
"Driving in I expected to see the old entrance and stuff but it's all been extended, the two houses we used have been knocked down and there are grass verges and nice houses.
"There's still a lot of work to be done but from what I've seen they're doing a fantastic job."
In the above video, Jagielka also shares some of his favourite memories of Bellefield and explains why a good training ground atmosphere is so vital to Everton's success.
The Bellway Bellefield site will eventually hold 74 new homes.
