Nevin Expects Tight Affair
Former Blue predicting Chelsea clash to be close.
Former Everton and Chelsea winger Pat Nevin believes that Saturday's meeting between his two old sides will be a close encounter.
Nevin made over 100 appearances for the Blues from 1988-1992 after a five-year spell at Stamford Bridge and thinks the form of both teams means there will be little to separate them at Goodison Park.
"It's going to be extremely tight," said Nevin. "Even though there are a few positions between the clubs just now, I don't think there is much ability-wise at the moment.
"Chelsea are on an unusually good run at the moment. People are giving Chelsea a bit of stick because of the fact they're not to the level that they have been in the past. I think Chelsea are on a run of one defeat in the last 14, which considering what has been happening this season in the Barclays Premier League, that's quite an unusual run!"
On the Toffees' own undefeated streak, the former Scotland international believes that their performances against the big teams may give them the edge.
"Against Man City it was incredible, but other days it can be not as vivacious in the style of play. However, I think Everton will be up for this one. I suspect the most likely result would be a draw, but I wouldn't be shocked if Everton sneaked a win."
