Blues To Face Blackpool

Tangerines to visit Goodison in FA Cup fifth round after replay.

Blues To Face Blackpool

Everton will play Blackpool in the FA Cup 5th Round after the Seasiders overcame Sheffield Wednesday 3-0 on Tuesday night.

A replay was required after the sides drew 1-1 at Bloomfield Road in the initial tie.

But this time the Championship outfit overpowered their League One opponents at Hillsborough, racing into a 2-0 lead after just 15 minutes.

In-form Matt Phillips and ex-Premier League star Lomana LuaLua set the Tangerines on their way, with Frenchman Ludovic Sylvestre rounding the victory off late on.

Everton will now host Blackpool at Goodison on 18 February at 3pm. Ticket information is available here, with the popular £5 kids offer again in operation.

Twelve months ago, when the sides last met, Everton ran out victors in a 5-3 thriller as recently-departed striker Louis Saha grabbed four of the goals.

Blackpool have been relegated from the Premier League since then but are currently riding high in the second tier.

Blues' academy graduate Keith Southern is still a part of their squad, while Everton's Seamus Coleman will be hoping to be back from injury in time to face his former side after enjoying a highly successful loan spell there two seasons ago.

Wednesday's exit means a repeat of the momentous 1966 FA Cup final won't be taking place this time around.
