David Moyes will make a decision on triallist Edson Buddle after the weekend.
The USA striker has spent the week at Finch Farm in an attempt to impress Moyes and earn a move from German side Ingolstadt.
Buddle has been training alongside international teammates Landon Donovan and Tim Howard and will soon discover his fate, according to the Blues boss.
“He has been in for a few days and we will have a look at it and talk about it over the weekend,” confirmed Moyes at his Friday press briefing.
And with just over 10 days remaining of the January transfer window, the Everton manager reiterated his desire to add more new faces following the acquisition of Landon Donovan and Darron Gibson.
La Galaxy forward Donovan has shown his class early on in a 10-week loan switch, while Gibson impressed on debut at Aston Villa following a permanent switch from Manchester United.
But Moyes doesn’t want it to stop there.
He said: “I would like to (add to my squad) if I can. We are certainly short at centre-half right now and I have always said that if we can get a centre forward in then that would be great."

Denis GriffinNot necessarily, as an American, particularly someone who wasn't an important international, it'd have taken time for the work permit so today wouldn't have been realistic to sign him.
