Value Of Drenthe X-Factor
Phil Jagielka says Dutchman's unpredictability can be key
Royston Drenthe
Phil Jagielka is hoping Royston Drenthe can make a swift return from injury and offer Everton the X-factor.
Drenthe has been missing since the win over Wolves with a foot problem.
And Jagielka hopes the on-loan Dutchman is back soon, claiming that the winger offers a certain ‘je ne sais quoi' when it comes to unlocking opposition defences.
It's a quality which could be all important in a Christmas period which kicks off with back-to-back home games.
"Hopefully we can get the first goal and they will have to come out and press us to try and get the goal themselves," Jagielka told evertontv.
"We have found it hard in recent weeks to come from behind because teams have just sat in."
And the key to getting the first goal could be the creativity of Drenthe, according to Jagielka.
"Hopefully he can be fit enough to play some part in the next two games," said the stand in skipper.
"He gives us that bit of flair and spark so hopefully he can play a big part and score a couple or set up a couple over the next couple of weeks.
"It's hard to know where he is going to pop up but we need that unpredictability because sometimes it's been a bit too easy to mark us. Offensively he adds a massive threat with his ability, his pace and his shooting."
