More Youth Chances Says Boss
Conor McAleny
David Moyes will continue to offer chances to young players.
On Saturday at Arsenal the Everton chief handed a debut to 19-year-old forward Conor McAleny, a product of the Club's academy.
The highlight of McAleny's 15-minute run-out was a dipping volley which flew just wide and indicated that the expected debut nerves were being kept at bay.
"We have always said we will put the young boys in the team if we think they are doing well enough and we will continue to do that," said Moyes after the game.
"He had a half chance, it would have taken a really good finish to score from the angle but nevertheless it was an attempt on goal and we have not had many of those in recent weeks."
McAleny's recognition came after a string of impressive performances for the reserves in recent weeks and Moyes believes he offers differing attacking qualities to his other personnel.
"Conor deserves it," continued the manager. "He has showed up well in training and done well in the reserve games as well.
"He has a wee bit of speed so we thought that could maybe upset the Arsenal defenders and as it was we got one chance for him to get in behind them."

Victor TayMcAleny looked so calm and collected when he was presented with that opportunity. Reminded me a bit of Franny Jeffers. Keep up the good work Conor and hope to see more of you in future!
