David Moyes said taking three points was crucial after Everton's win over Wolves.

Everton required a late Leighton Baines penalty to see off the West Midlands outfit, who led through Stephen Hunt's first half spot-kick before Phil Jagielka drew the sides level.

The Blues were the more adventurous of the sides and Moyes believes his team's ambition meant they were the worthy victors.

He said: "It was a crucial win and the points were vital for us. We had a few chances, not loads of chances but we had a few and the ones we did get we didn't finish off.

"I didn't think we deserved to be down at the end of the first half, we got a lot of crosses into the box and if anyone looked likely it was us. But we didn't get people in the box and we didn't get people on the end of things.

"The boys at the back stuck at it, Leon Osman had a really good game in midfield and Marouane Fellaini as well.

"We just didn't seem to have enough to get out of sight. I can't remember a chance Wolves had against us. The game was tight and in the end two set pieces, if you like, won it. I think we deserved to win."

Everton were denied a penalty on the stroke of half-time when Tim Cahill appeared to be hauled down by Karl Henry just as he was about to pounce in the six-yard box.

Moyes said: "The boy seems to get hold of Tim Cahill and there was a big shout but the ref never gave it. There were three shouts, two were given and one wasn't. I've seen them given."

Minik HansenSo happy. It's a great climb with one less game than all the other teams. This makes us more comfortable, though we'd do good with another win! ;) Which we have a pretty good chance of. coyb!
