Blues Secure Drenthe Deal
Everton sign Royston Drenthe from Real Madrid.
Royston Drenthe
Everton have agreed a deal to sign Royston Drenthe from Real Madrid.
The exciting winger, still only 24, arrives on a season long loan from the Spanish giants and offers extra pace and flair to the Blues squad.
The Dutchman, who can also operate at full-back, shot to prominence after being named player of the tournament in the 2007 European Under-21 championships, which Holland won.
He also competed in the 2008 Olympics and went on to gain his first full international cap in November 2010.
That success prompted a €14m move to the Bernabeu from boyhood club Feyenoord.
He scored a spectacular goal on his Real debut and proceeded to hold down a regular place in his first season and at the start of his second season in Spain.
Drenthe, who is out of contract next summer, spent last season on loan at La Liga outfit Hercules, scoring four times in 17 games and earning widespread praise for his form.
