New Deal For Neville
Blues skipper Phil Neville has signed a contract extension.
Phil Neville has signed a contract extension keeping him at Goodison until 2013.
The skipper's contract had been set to expire at the end of this season but after putting pen to paper on a deal for an additional year he has vowed to continue giving his all to repay the faith the Club has placed in him.
He exclusively told evertontv: "I feel really proud and this club has never let me down. It's shown faith in me again and for the next two years I'm going to give my all for this football club.
"That's what I've done for the last six years and that's what I'll continue to do."
Indeed, the versatile veteran who will be 36 by the time the new deal ends has refused to put a limit on how long he can go on for.
"I want to play beyond that," Neville told evertontv. "But for the next two years I'm going to give my all.
"I love playing for Everton. I love the spirit in the club, I love the togetherness, and that's going to continue."
Neville signed the contract extension on Saturday morning ahead of the Blues' opening day defeat to QPR at Goodison.
He featured 35 times for David Moyes' side last term and looked as fresh as ever as he moved back into midfield towards the end of the season.
He swapped Old Trafford for Goodison back in 2005 and has since established himself as a key player at the Club.
The 34-year-old has amassed 228 appearances, scoring four times – including a stunning finish in last year’s 3-0 win at Wolves.
But Neville’s most iconic moments in a Blue shirt have surely come in the FA cup with the ex-England man converting crucial penalties in shootout wins over former club Manchester United in 2009 and Chelsea last season.
