The fixtures for the new season are unveiled today - with the Blues facing Tottenham on the opening day for the first time since 2002, when an encounter at Goodison ended in a 2-2 stalemate.

The August 13 awayday is followed by the first game at Goodison a week later, when Premier League newcomers Queens Park Rangers are the visitors.

Amongst the standout fixtures are the Merseyside derby matches - with Liverpool coming to Goodison on October 1 and the Blues making the journey across Stanley Park on February 25 - a Boxing Day trip to Sunderland for the second time in three years and a final game of the season against Newcastle at Goodison on May 13.

Three consecutive awaydays between March and April will see the Blues travel to the promoted trio of QPR, Swansea City and Norwich.

September and October provides some stern tests, with a trip to Manchester City on September 24 preceding a run of games against Liverpool (H), Chelsea (A), Fulham (A) and Manchester United (H).

The Blues will see in 2012 with a New Year's Eve trip to West Bromwich Albion - which is followed two days later by the visit of Bolton.

Easter weekend begins with a trip to Norwich on the Saturday before a home clash with Sunderland on Easter Monday.

The final away game of the campaign is at Wolves on May 5, whilst the penultimate road trip for fans is to Old Trafford on April 21.

The Emirates is the destination for David Moyes' men on December 10, sandwiched between home games with Stoke and Norwich.

Swansea arrive at Goodison on Wednesday, December 21, beginning a run of four fixtures in 12 days over the festive period.

FA Cup third round weekend is scheduled for Saturday, January 7 and Sunday, January 8.
